Veteran’s Assistance Dogs are specially trained to assist veterans with combat-related injuries and service-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Some tasks Veteran’s Assistance Dogs provide to their partners include:
- Assistance adjusting back to society
- Retrieving medication and a drink to take medication
- Calling for help on a K9 rescue phone
- Checking the house for hidden intruders
- Turning on lights before a veteran enters a house
- Flashback & night terror interruption
- Providing tactile stimulation
Veteran Service Dogs may also provide assistance with mobility and hearing alert tasks.
